Arcadia is a static browser-game portal. This policy explains what we collect, what our advertising partner collects, and the choices you have. It applies to every page on this site, in every language.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not create user accounts.
Information we collect ourselves
We do not ask you to register, and we do not run our own login, comment or newsletter system. The only data our own code stores is kept in your browser and never transmitted to us:
| What | Where it is stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Language preference | Your browser (URL and local storage) | Serve the right locale |
| Cookie choice | Your browser (local storage key arcadia.consent.v1) |
Remember whether you accepted advertising cookies |
| Game progress written by an embedded game | Your browser, owned by that game | Keep your progress between sessions |
Clearing your browser storage erases all of it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We group cookies into two categories.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work: remembering your language and remembering your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot honour your preferences. They contain no advertising identifiers.
Advertising and measurement
These are set by Google when you allow them. Which control asks you depends on where you are, because the rules differ.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked by a Google-certified consent management platform, as Google requires for those regions. That dialog is delivered by the Google AdSense library itself, so the library does load before you answer — it has to, or there would be nothing to show you the choice. No ad is requested and no advertising cookie is written until you answer it. You can reopen that dialog at any time with the "Cookie preferences" control in the site footer.
Everywhere else you are asked by this site's own banner, and no advertising script is loaded at all before you accept. If you reject, or if you have not answered yet, the Google AdSense library is never requested and no advertising cookie is written. You can change your answer at any time with the same "Cookie preferences" control.
To decide which control to show you, the site reads the country your connection resolves to from our own server (Cloudflare), on the same domain as this page. No third party is contacted to do it, nothing about it is stored beyond your current browsing session, and the country is not recorded anywhere on our side.
Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)
We show advertising from Google AdSense to fund the site.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites.
- Depending on your region and your choice, ads may be personalised or non-personalised.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and review vendor choices at aboutads.info.
- Google's own handling of the data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and the Google advertising notice.
We do not receive your name, email address or any directly identifying information from Google.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not involve, because it is the one measurement tool on this site that runs without asking you first.
It sets no cookies. It stores no identifier for you, on your device or on any server, and it cannot follow you to another website. It reports totals — which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world from, which browser — with nothing that distinguishes one visitor from another.
Because it collects no personal data, it does not need your consent, and asking for it would be misleading about what is happening. This is also why we chose it: a measurement tool that only loads after a cookie banner is accepted reports a biased subset of visitors, and one that identifies people to report accurately is not a trade we are willing to make.
Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf and publishes its own privacy terms at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Embedded games and outbound links
Games on this site are loaded in an iframe from the developer or platform that publishes them. Those providers set their own cookies and are governed by their own privacy policies; we do not control them.
Some pages link to game listings on the Steam store. These are ordinary store
links and we earn no commission from them. They carry utm_ parameters so we
can count how many visitors followed a recommendation. Prices and review scores
shown next to those links were recorded on the date printed beside them and may
have changed since.
Your rights in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (GDPR)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our lawful bases are your consent (for advertising and measurement cookies) and legitimate interests (for delivering the site itself). You have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- withdraw consent at any time, with no effect on processing already carried out;
- lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
Because we hold no account data, most requests about advertising data must be directed to Google as the controller of that data. Contact us and we will point you to the correct channel.
Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising outside the advertising cookies you accept. California residents may ask what categories of personal information are collected, ask for deletion, and exercise those rights without being treated differently. To limit advertising cookies, reject them in the banner or clear your choice with the "Cookie preferences" control in the footer.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not ask any visitor for their age, name or contact details.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this site, contact us and we will delete it. Parents and guardians who want advertising cookies switched off can reject them in the banner; the choice is stored in the browser and applies to every page.
Data retention
We keep no server-side visitor records. Choices stored in your browser persist until you clear them. Data held by Google is retained under Google's own retention schedule.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how advertising cookies are used will also reset the consent banner so you can make a fresh choice.
